My work centers on creating functional pottery that blends beauty, purpose, and everyday comfort. Each piece is handcrafted and designed to be used—not just displayed. What inspires me most is knowing that my pottery becomes part of someone’s daily life. Seeing others find joy in using something I made is the heart of my practice and the reason I continue to create.
Pottery Has Purpose
Each piece is made with safe, lead-free materials and is fully food-safe. My pottery can be used in the microwave and dishwasher, but for the longest life and most gentle care, hand-washing is recommended.

Ceramics mirrors life: we’re shaped, stretched, tested by heat, and refined through time. What begins fragile becomes strong. Every piece tells a story of becoming.
Meet Mercedes
Mercedes’s first experience with ceramics was as a child taking lessons from her retired neighbor, Audrey. Audrey created a magical place for the neighborhood children with clay, a kiln and glazes to explore. For many years, Mercedes has shared her love of ceramics with friends, families, and young students.
There is a phrase that says ceramics is the only poetry that can be touched…what emerges is never perfect, but always honest.
Clay starts as something ordinary—just earth and water—but with time, attention, and a few mistakes along the way, it becomes something meaningful.
